TNT has ordered a pilot for Claws, an hour-long scripted dramedy set in a Southern Florida nail salon. Executive-produced by Le Train Train’s Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (Toy Story 4, Celeste and Jesse Forever, A to Z), Claws is from Le Train Train in association with Warner Horizon Television and TNT Original Productions, and is written by co-executive producer Eliot Laurence (Welcome to Me).

Starz and FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) announced that Sean Harris (“The Borgias,” “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”) has been cast as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki (“Aquarius,” “Masters of Sex”) as Bilquis and Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy in the upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel, American Gods. The series begins shooting next month.

In Minneapolis’ large Somali refugee community, Adan (Barkhad Abdirahman) has nowhere to go. His mom kicked him out, and his friends are tired of his headstrong ways. As a last resort, he moves into the mosque, praying for a little help. Surprisingly, God seems to answer. Adan quickly lands a good job, devout friends, and a newfound faith. When Adan nearly hits a stray dog on the job, he’s forced to take it in for a night. But one of his new mosque friends considers the dog impure, and he throws Adan out.

“Silence of the Slams” takes us into the world of Mexican wrestling with “luchadors” vying for the spotlight of the square ring. Young (human) wrestler Goyo (Joseph Julian Soria) is tired of playing the loser to top billed luchadors like “El Mayordomo” (Sal Guerro). What makes “Silence of the Slams” so intriguing is Goyo’s moral dilemma, as well the mask-maker Benito’s (Danny Mora). As Benito warns Goyo about wanting to pursue more power in the ring, he also tries to deter him from seeking notoriety. Fame isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be; there is always a price to pay.
