As with many of The Walking Dead’s season premieres, the highly anticipated 100th episode “Mercy” is no different, being both cryptic and befuddling. Dotted with odd flash-forward sequences of a seemingly aged, crippled, and gray-haired Rick (Andrew Lincoln), many disjointed scenes going back and forth between the big pre-fight pep rally, and seeing a present-day Rick sporting red-rimmed eyes alone in a forest, I found myself absolutely confused yet I couldn’t look away.
