Rating:

Hi all! I’m Judy and I will be covering the next two episodes for your regular reviewer, Juana.

Let’s dive into another FAE-tastic episode of Lost Girl! Yes, that sounded a little cheesy, but I can’t help myself – I enjoyed this episode! From the new species of Fae that are introduced to the intricate plotting of the episode, “Scream a Little Dream” not only piques your interest, it holds it firmly throughout the episode. And you’ll chuckle quite a bit, too!

Kenzi (Ksenia Solo, L) helps Bo (Anna Silk, R) stay awake

What would Bo (Anna Silk) do without Kenzi (Ksenia Solo)? Let’s hope she won’t ever have to find out. Kenzi not only rescues Bo with her quick thinking, she’s a true friend too. Kenzi is a riot! The words that fall out of her mouth are whimsical and funny. As she rocks out to “Jerk It” by Thunderheist while cleaning their dirty apartment, all I can think of is, “Why is she complaining?” They don’t pay rent – they are squatting in an abandoned house. By the way, how do they get electricity if they aren’t paying any bills? Maybe I’m nit-picking but as much as I love Kenzi, she really needs to look at the grander picture. I think she learns her lesson, though, about hired help. Trick (Rick Howland) warns her about the Brownie, “Don’t take him for granted.” Mumphert (Cliff Saunders) is a Light Fae species known as a Brownie. He is like the perfect housekeeper. He doesn’t want money, asks only to be respected, and for the love of nuts and honey – keeps the “Honey Berry Crunch” in stock!

Bo (Anna Silk, seated) is being attacked by The Mare ((Kristina Pesic)

The real nitty gritty of “Scream a Little Dream” is when Frank (Jason Blicker), a hotel doorman, asks Bo and Kenzi for help. It seems all the tenants in his hotel have gone mad. But Bo gets more than she bargained for when she gets tangled up with the sinister Dark Fae species known as The Mare. Connie, The Mare (Kristina Pesic), not only gives you nightmares, she feeds off the fear they provoke. Bo’s nightmares are not scary in the sense of a horror movie, but scary because some of her worst fears are manifesting. In my opinion, I’d rather face Jason Vorhees at Crystal Lake than my worst fears!

Observations/Thoughts:

I was really impressed with the depth of deception throughout the episode. You aren’t sure who is friend or foe. What I’m very interested in seeing is the development of the new Ash (Vincent Walsh). On the surface, he’s kind of a dick actually. I get he has a lot of responsibility, but even the previous Ash didn’t come across so brazenly dick-ish! The Ash has plans for Bo but I’m not sure if he can be trusted. I feel like he may be a mole for the Dark Fae. I’d also like to know Lauren’s (Zoie Palmer) connection to The Ash. She’s a human doctor, so how does she get so integrated into the Light Fae’s business? When is Lauren going to tell Bo about her affiliation with the Light Fae? She’s had multiple opportunities but always seems to dodge the issue. Can Lauren be trusted?

Kris Holden-Reid as Dyson

The tease factor of Dyson (Kris Holden-Reid) and Bo reuniting is torturous, at best. The scene when Bo wakes up in the middle of the night to find Dyson taking a hot, steamy shower had me a little hot and bothered myself. The chemistry between Silk and Holden-Reid is electrifying! Will these two be able to truly find their way back to each other? It seems the only way to get their love back from The Norn (Kate Trotter) is if someone sacrifices something. I wonder if Bo is willing to give up her Succubus abilities just as Dyson was willing to give up his wolf form.

Funny lines/moments:

Kenzi gets a splinter from a broom and Bo pokes fun. But Kenzi bites back, “Oh, like you’ve never been suckered by a big shaft of wood!”

Kenzi realizes the reason Bo has a sudden urge to clean, “Oh, honey. Honey, you’re binge cleaning.”

Bo: “Spring cleaning of the heart starts with spring cleaning of the hearth.”

Kenzi: “Ok, that should be in a hurl-mark card, but if it’s cleaning you need, you can be Cinderella and I’ll be your little birdie.”

Kenzi’s take on Bo calling Lauren for help on this case: “Hey, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.”

Kenzi tells Bo about their new housekeeper, “Guess what I brought home?”

Bo: “Um, confusion and a chocolate dispensing terror?”

After Bo describes the creature to Trick, he realizes what it is, “Sounds like a Mare.”

Bo: “Well, this filly only had two legs and tried to ride me.”

Trick : “Uh, different kind of mare, as in nightmare.”

Who knew the Sandman could or would be Dark Fae? I guess I won’t be asking the Sandman to come visit my insomniac ass anymore – I don’t want to end up like Connie, knocked up with sextuplets! *shudders* I wonder if the Sand-Mare babies will make an appearance in a future episode. Babies need to feed, too, right?
