SHARK AFTER DARK Airs July 5-9 at 11 PM ET/PT on Discovery

(Tuesday, June 2, 2015 — Los Angeles, CA). There’s blood in the water, so who better to talk about sharks than the King of Horror himself, Eli Roth. SHARK WEEK, television’s longest running and most anticipated summer event kicks off Sunday, July 5, and hit late-night talk show Shark After Dark will return for its third consecutive year with an all-new host, award-winning film director, producer, writer and actor Eli Roth (“Inglourious Basterds”, “The Green Inferno,” and “Knock Knock” amongst other projects). For five consecutive nights, Roth will bring his unique style to Shark After Dark and make his mark on SHARK WEEK with celebrity guests, shark fans and shark experts, among many others. Additionally, Roth will look back at some of the highlights from SHARK WEEK and look ahead to give viewers a sneak peek at the next day’s SHARK WEEK programs. Shark After Dark airs Sunday, July 5 to Thursday, July 9 (11:00-11:30 PM ET/PT) on Discovery.

“Being part of this is a dream come true for me as I’ve been a SHARK WEEK fan for 20 years – it’s my favorite television week of the year,” said Roth. “I am completely shark obsessed and cannot wait to dive in and help create the most exciting SHARK WEEK in years. I had an amazing experience recreating the Milgram experiments for Discovery, and can’t wait to make the same type of waves on SHARK WEEK.”

Roth wrote, directed, and produced the horror films “Cabin Fever”, “Hostel” and “Hostel: Part II”, and as an actor, co-starred in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds”. His producing credits include “The Last Exorcism” and “The Man With The Iron Fists”, and he serves as Executive Producer on the hit Netflix series “Hemlock Grove”. Most recently, Roth co-wrote and directed the upcoming feature film “The Green Inferno” as well as “Knock Knock” starring Keanu Reeves.

This year, SHARK WEEK returns with the most hours of shark programming in its 28-year history. In addition to kicking off SHARK WEEK earlier than ever before, for the first time, Discovery is introducing a special weekend of all-new SHARK WEEK programming at the end of the summer in August, officially making 2015 the “Summer of the Shark.”
