TV News: "Dancing with the Stars" Season 13 Cast Announced 1As anticipated, ABC announced the cast of this season’s Dancing with the Stars during tonight’s episode of Bachelor Pad. It’s a very eclectic cast and one which already has tongues wagging. I must admit I am quite surprised at some of the awful things people are saying about Chaz Bono on the various media sites and blogs I’ve visited. I won’t tell you the exact words chosen to describe Chaz – I’m sure you can use your imagination. This is such a shame. No one should judge anyone else, let alone someone they don’t know. It will be their loss, however, should they decide not to watch this highly entertaining, award-winning show. But I digress…

Here is the official cast in the order they were announced. Dancing with the Stars premieres September 19th, 8-10 pm ET/PT.

Rikki Lake – best known as Tracy Turnblad from the 1988 movie, Hairspray, and former talk show host (soon to be returning with a new talk show in 2012);

Ron Artest – 6’7″ forward from the Los Angeles Lakers (this season’s requisite male sports star) who is trying to change his name to Metta World Peace (good luck with that);

Kristen Cavalleri – MTV star best known for her roles in The Hills and Laguna Beach;

Chynna Phillips – singer with Wilson Phillips and wife of Billy Baldwin;

David Arquette – actor and ex-husband of Courtney Cox (thank heavens he’s sober now);

Carson Kressley – fashion expert best known for his role in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and How to Look Good Naked;

Nancy Grace – not my favorite legal commentator and host of her own show on HLN;

J.R. Martinez – actor in the now defunct All My Children (certain to be a fan favorite due to the burns he sustained in the Iraqi war);

Hope Solo – the beautiful goalie for the U.S.Women’s National Soccer Team (requisite female sports star) who helped bring home a gold in the 2008 Summer Olympics;

Rob Kardashian – younger brother of reality stars Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian (does anyone know what he does for a living?);

Elisabetta Canalis – Italian beauty and former girlfriend of George Clooney (now there’s something to be famous for!); and as I mentioned in the beginning of this post,

Chaz Bono – writer, actor, musician, and transgender son of the famous couple, Sonny and Cher.

The pros and their pairings will be announced during Wednesday’s edition of GMA. My fingers and toes are crossed that Derek Hough will be dancing in my living room this September. I can’t tell you how much I missed him last season. As it doesn’t appear any of the “stars” have any previous dancing experience, save Rikki Lake who has had plenty of experience on Broadway, this should be an interesting season. Looks like it’s anyone’s Mirror Ball!
