How cool to see these two together for an entire episode.

I love a road trip episode like the next person but this one has a little something more to it. I don’t know if it’s the love that is in the air or the overall good vibes coming from “Say Yes” but it all makes me want more of these two together. Alone. The sexy time alone is enough to make you want more Richonne. I hadn’t realized Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) haven’t been alone for any amount of time since they decided to be together.

“Say Yes” is a not only the episode title but a phrase Rick throws back at Scavenger leader Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh). She used it to barter a deal Rick couldn’t refuse. He turns the table and does the same, ensuring his deal with the new allies doesn’t fall apart. What I find most interesting about this is how easily he learns, adapting to the way the Scavengers communicate. The first go round with them wasn’t so easy. Knowing what they value helps Rick to establish common ground.

My heart can’t take much more of the ups and downs The Walking Dead (TWD) throws at us. “Say Yes” features too many similarities of what happened in previous seasons for me to relax: Rick and Michonne falling through the roof; Rick appearing to be eaten by a gang of walkers; and the damn deer. I’m certain those deer are traps. Every time a survivor sees one and tries to shoot it, someone gets hurt. Michonne is tested in “Say Yes” and she fails herself. It’s not a bad thing to love someone so much it hurts; the very thought of them leaving you, removing your desire to live. But when Michonne drops her katana, that is her giving up. She quits existing in that moment because she knows in her heart of hearts that Rick is gone. That’s love in the time of the zombie apocalypse. Once your sweetheart is removed from existence, what is left? Um, how about your damn self? Just because your man is being eaten alive doesn’t mean you have to join him. In this case, our eyes can play tricks on us, and thank goodness for that. On the flip side, Rick could have gone through hell and back and not shed a tear but now that he has Michonne in his life, everything is different. The tears we’ve seen Rick shed weren’t for himself but for what he feared he would lose. Think about it: he’s accepted Judith isn’t his child by birth; Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) are no longer in the picture, through no fault of his own; and Carl (Chandler Riggs) is damn near an adult now. What else is there for Rick except for Michonne when it comes down to it? It’s probably the romantic in me talking because Rick seems to think there is a lot left to go on living for, to look forward to, and to remember.

This scene gave me so many feels. You can’t buy this kind of love.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Tara (Alanna Masterson) knows where the group can find more guns, people, and allies. But is she going to go back on her word to protect the secret of the Oceanside dwellers she met? My guess is Tara might be rethinking her loyalties because of what she’s lived through. “What makes our life worth more than theirs?” If the groups are able to combine forces, there’s no way they wouldn’t win against the Saviors. All except for one minor detail: we still don’t know how many Saviors there are.

Rosita (Christian Serratos) has it all wrong. She wants to go after Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) on her own but it will take more than one bullet to take the man down. At least she cares about Eugene (Josh McDermitt). He is, after all, her last link to Abraham (Michael Cudlitz). But hasn’t everyone lost someone at this point? At least Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) has her head on straight. “I’m ready to kill him but I want to make sure you know what this means. They can’t catch us alive.” Bloody hell. I love my strong ladies but not on the wrong side of a bullet.

As an aside, how in the world does a group of people devolve into baby talking, trash gathering, caught up in the Matrix weirdos? It’s only been a couple of years since the beginning of this mess, right? So how does a group throw off civilization for trash heaps?

Is anyone else wondering why there are walkers with their hands tied in front of them? What in the world happened at that school when all hell broke loose?

Funny and Interesting Quotes:

Michonne: “You gonna leave me hanging?”

Rick: “We could shoot them but that would call the rest from the field, this is about doing it quiet with the sword. You can handle eight.”

I love Rick’s faith in his woman’s capabilities. He doesn’t doubt her for a second.

**

Michonne to Rick: “I can’t lose you.”

Well, damn.

**

Rick: “You can lose me.”

Michonne: “No.”

Rick: “Yes you can. I can lose you. We can lose our friends, people we love. It’s not about us anymore, it’s about a future. And if it’s me who doesn’t make it, you’re gonna have to lead the others forward because you’re the one who can.”

Um, foreshadowing much? I don’t like this speech. I don’t like it one bit.

“Sixteen Candles” the zombie apocalypse version. Candles can make any room romantic.

The chemistry between Gurira and Lincoln is off the charts. I can’t get enough of the two of them together. They weave a story around their characters which makes you feel, as well as, see their emotions in the moment they are experiencing them. It’s a nice change of pace. It’s a storyline I want to watch more of. The Walking Dead takes viewers on a trip we don’t expect. I’m still not able to wipe the cheesy smile off my face.
