Sons of Anarchy’s Michael Ornstein’s Upcoming Jack Kerouac Tribute at the Beat Museum: Honoring and Reinventing Kerouac’s Scroll

Sons of Anarchy fans may want to schedule a visit to the San Francisco Beat Museum on the evening of October 27. Michael Ornstein, who plays fan favorite Chucky, will be part of the festivities to honor Jack Kerouac’s book On the Road and to celebrate the upcoming release of the Walter Salles-directed film inspired by it.

The Beat Museum, located on 540 Broadway St. in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco (the historic epicenter of the Beat culture), will be hosting guests from all over the world for an induction ceremony of the “Reinvented Scroll” of Jack Kerouac.  The OntheRoad4Kerouac project is a yearlong initiative during which hundreds of participants from around the globe paid homage to the draft Kerouac continuously wrote of his famous book in 1951 (which has come to be called the Original Scroll) by submitting testimonials of what Kerouac’s writing and On The Road has meant to them.

As part of the festivities, Ornstein, who is also a multi-disciplinary artist, will be unveiling a special new painting exhibition inspired by the Beats. Ornstein is a Beat fan who grew up reading Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. Other Beat luminaries are also expected at the event.

For those interested in submitting testimonials, time is running out! Team Scroller will be accepting more entries for a few upcoming weeks. For more information, go to: http://www.ontheroad4kerouac.org/2012/09/send-us-your-written-tribute-photos-or.html.

On the Road stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart. The film is rounded out by a remarkable ensemble cast, which includes Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, and Tom Sturridge, among others. The U.S. release of On the Road is slated for December 2012.
