Once Ghost has his project up and running, I’m gonna ask him for a divorce…Ghost don’t know it yet but he’s about to give me my way out.” — Tasha St. Patrick

Oh. My. God. That’s all I’m going to say about the way “That Ain’t Me” ends. I’m still in a state of shock. Talk about a powerful cliffhanger! Let’s just talk about the rest of this exciting penultimate episode of Power because if we don’t, I’ll burst into tears. It’s that heart-wrenching.

I was hoping Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) would learn his lesson after what happened in last week’s episode, “It’s Done,” but sadly that’s not the case. He’s still wrapped up with Brains (Jermel Howard) and 2-Bit (Michael J Ferguson) and thinks he has the upper hand. It’s easy to see last week’s murder of the housewife is on Tariq’s mind during his conversation with Ghost (Omari Hardwick) outside Choate, the private school his sister Raina (Donshea Hopkins) wants to attend. But he’s still playing the tough guy when it comes to his so-called friends. I don’t trust them, especially when they insinuate Tariq may have snitched to that dirty cop, Ray Ray (Marcus Callender). Speaking of Ray Ray, that man scares me. He’s not to be trusted under any circumstance. Just ask Brains and 2-Bit. Oh wait, you can’t.

Both Silver and Angela are glad the case is over.

Angela (Lela Loren) has quite the quandary. Not only does attorney Joe Proctor (Jerry Ferrara) want her to work as a defense attorney at his firm, Tameika Robinson (Quincy Tyler Bernstine), the new “U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District” wants Angela to stay on. Unfortunately, it’s not in the capacity Angela thought it would or should be. Poor Angie. She’s always getting screwed; she never gets the credit she deserves—especially with John Mak (Sung Kang) at the helm. But Angela isn’t going to take it lying down, that’s for sure. It will be interesting to see where the writers take the relationship between Angela and Robinson. It’s the first time there’s been a female boss on the series and speaking from personal experience, that’s doesn’t always go well. Time will tell whether Robinson truly likes Angela and wants her to succeed.

What a surprise it is to learn the only thing Tony Teresi (William Sadler) wants from Tommy (Joseph Sikora) is to meet him in person. I thought for sure Teresi would want him to do something illegal. The problem is, with Tommy’s criminal background, he can’t get into the prison; only blood relatives can visit inmates. What Tommy says and does to his mother Kate (Patricia Kalember) to get proof that Teresi is his biological dad is shocking, to say the least. Sikora absolutely shines in this scene. The look in his eyes when Tommy has Kate by the throat…well, let’s just say I was scared for her even though I know this is a television show. Sikora isn’t the only one who’s brilliant, though; Kalember pulls off the pathetic mother character perfectly. She even had me feeling sorry for Kate.

Tommy goes to the one person he knows he can count on.

Unfortunately, the people Tommy thinks are his friends are dropping by the wayside, much to his chagrin especially when it comes to his “primeras.” It leads him to a confrontation with Ghost that isn’t pretty. It all starts with Dre (Rotimi Akinosho), though. He is one sly mofo. The plan he and Cristobal (Matt Cedeño) cook up to oust Tommy is brilliant. It’s always good to play one against the other, don’t you think? I just have a feeling it’s going to come back and bite Dre in the ass. There’s one scene between Tommy and Dre where I was sure Tommy figured it out but he’s too high to think clearly.

Ghost finally realizes his business dealings with Councilman Tate (Larenz Tate) and Simon Stern (Victor Garber) aren’t what they seemed to be. You know the expression, “[O]ne hand washes the other?” It’s not always the best thing to do and I can’t wait to see how Ghost handles Tate and Alphonse (Patrick R. Walker). I did love what Tate does to Stern in the City Council meeting, though. That smarmy smile on Stern’s face certainly disappears quickly!

Other Thoughts

Tasha’s (Naturi Naughton) romance with attorney Terry Silver (Brandon Victor Dixon) is progressing, albeit slowly. She promises to leave Ghost once he gets his business venture with Councilman Tate up and running but something tells me that’s not going to happen. I must admit, though, I was surprised when Silver mentions to Tasha the only people he told about Mike Sandoval’s (David Fumero) whereabouts were her and Ghost. Do you think Silver is going to figure out who killed Sandoval?

Angela and Ghost at the party. Is their love truly an everlasting one?

The minute I heard Angela was going to the criminal defense organization’s gala honoring Ghost, I got scared. I’m not exactly sure for whom, though. With Ghost there as Destroy Injustice’s Man of the Year, I wasn’t sure what to expect when their paths crossed. It’s quite an emotional, yet awkward scene between them. It left me wondering whether he and Angela will get back together, especially if Tasha goes forward with the divorce. It’s obvious Ghost and Angela still love each other. What I really want to know, though, is what Angela whispers to U.S. Attorney Robinson to make her change her mind and name Angela “Chief of Justice” instead of Mak. Man, is he pissed!

Father Callahan tells Tommy he’s done.

I had to laugh when Father Callahan (Jim Norton) says to Tommy, “I didn’t get into the drug game for the violence. I’m a man of the cloth, for Christ’s sake.” It’s just something I never thought I’d hear a priest say.

How pathetic is Tommy when he tells Dre, “Bounce, muthafucker. I don’t need you. I don’t need nobody!” No man is an island, Tommy.

What did you think of “That Ain’t Me?” From the teaser of the season finale, “You Can’t Fix This,” it looks like Ghost and Tommy are going to do what they should have done years ago about Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson). Looks like it’s going to be one powerful, tension-filled, emotional episode. Hit me up on Twitter @SeasideTV or leave a comment below.
