While attending the 30th Annual Paleyfest this weekend for one of my favorite new shows, Revolution, my hopes for more than the brief, but juicy, 11 minutes of the upcoming mid-season premiere on March 25 were dashed. Despite seeing only a recap of the first half of the season in addition to the 11 minutes, the panel entertainingly made up for what we didn’t see. May I just say I have a little crush on Eric Kripke? He is a passionate guy and if you didn’t know it already, a huge Led Zeppelin (LZ) fan. Huge! He relayed a story about getting LZ’s music on the show. He was beyond stoked when LZ said yes. How could you not be ecstatic about that? It’s Led Friggin’ Zeppelin!

I simply adore Kripke and have been a fan of his other show, Supernatural, for quite a while now. His excitement for Revolution jumps out at you as he animatedly talks about it with such a giddy enthusiasm. As J.J. Abrams charmingly put it while describing how these two joined forces, Kripke is (paraphrase) “the peanut butter to Abrams’ chocolate,” which, in my eyes, equals a peanut butter cup of delightful television to feast your eyes on every week.

Accentuating the evening were colorful commentary, as well as some humorous profanity slips several times despite the moderator mentioning that the panel was being live-streamed online. Oopsy! Haha. I guess Billy Burke didn’t mean to say Miles was a “p***y.” That garnered quite a few chuckles from the audience.

I’ll tell you, sitting in the theater, listening to Kripke, Abrams, and Favreau speak so spiritedly and positively about their experiences working together; hearing the cast compliment, and tease one another; and everyone talking about how much they enjoy working on Revolution was absolutely wonderful to hear from a fan’s perspective. Now I want to go to Wilmington, NC and hang out with them. Would that be considered stalking? Nah.

Some interesting and noteworthy highlights of the evening:

  1. We will learn why the power went out. Kripke informed us we will find out in the second half of this season what happened to the power and how much Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) knows about it.
  2. We will see more nations similar to the Monroe Republic. Kripke mentioned the characters will visit The Plains Nation and the Georgia Federation. And Georgia is apparently well fed since the climate in the southern states is much more fertile for growing crops. There is mention that Foster (guest star Leslie Hope), the president of GA, is going to be a “badass.”
  3. There will be emotional repercussions to Rachel’s abandoning her children; Charlie (Spiridakos) isn’t going to easily forgive but at the end of the day, Rachel is still her mother.
  4. We will learn why Miles (Burke) and Nora (Alonso) broke up.
  5. Father and son, Neville (Esposito) and Jason (Pardo), have a mano-y-mano showdown.
  6. Aaron (Zak Orth, who couldn’t make it for the panel) will be reunited with his wife, whom he abandoned/ran away from over ten years ago.
  7. The slap heard around the Republic – the reason Rachel slapped Miles will be revealed. There is so much more to these two than we ever knew.
  8. Lyons let slip accidentally that his character, Monroe, and Alonso’s character, Nora, will have a scene together. Talk about a teaser!
  9. We will also learn what happened to cause the rift between best buds Monroe and Miles.
  10. Monroe has power now that he has one of the pendants – he will brutally unleash his machines upon those who oppose him. This is no time to get squeamish, people!
  11. An audience member asked the cast for some funny stories and Alonso related a tale about how she and Spiridakos shopped to prepare for Hurricane Sandy. Alonso went to the local market and stocked up on water, batteries, and flashlights; the clerk told her Tracy (Spiridakos) had been in earlier but she only bought one thing—a bottle of wine. HA!
  12. I loved when the moderator told J.J. Abrams he has “the special sauce” for making hit television series. I’ll partially agree only because I’m still Lost. But I loved Alias and am really digging Revolution.

Alright, here’s some photos I took during the panel discussion. Enjoy. And FYI – David Lyons’ sexy accent makes me hot for Monroe. I guess gals do love a bad boy…especially one with an Aussie accent.

Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
