Compared to What: The Improbable Journey of Barney Frank, an intimate, rollicking, and entertaining look behind-the-scenes at the public and private life of one of America’s greatest and, at times, controversial legislators, is set to premiere on Showtime® on Friday, October 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, on-air, on demand and over the internet.

Combining 40 years of rare and archival material with verité footage and interviews Mike shot over several years, the documentary, which premiered last year at the Tribeca Film Festival, follows the wildly outspoken Frank from the halls of Congress to the streets of Boston, to the side of his loving partner, Jim Ready, as he takes his vows and becomes the first member of Congress to enter into a same-sex marriage, and as he prepares for retirement. Frank’s longtime friends and colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, Senator Alan Simpson, former U.S. Congressman Mike Oxley, commentator Mike Barnicle, and more recall Frank’s incredible, decades-long run as a leader on the world political stage.

Compared to What: The Improbable Journey of Barney Frank is executive produced by Alec Baldwin, Geralyn Dreyfous, and Jamie Wolf, co-executive produced by Donna and Michael Weinholtz, and directed and produced by Sheila Canavan and Michael Chandler.

Showtime is currently available to subscribers via cable, DBS and telco providers, and as a stand-alone streaming service through Apple® and Roku®. Consumers can also subscribe to Showtime via Hulu and Sony Network Entertainment International LLC’s PlayStation® Vue.
