(New York, NY) — Discovery Channel announced today that it has renewed the pop-culture phenomenon NAKED AND AFRAID for a third season. From Renegade 83, NAKED AND AFRAID, the #1 survival series on cable, drops a man and a woman – complete strangers – in a remote location with no food, no water…and no clothes. From Guyana to Thailand, Nicaragua to Belize, the Florida Everglades to Namibia, the survivalists are stranded all over the world across four continents and they must survive 21 days to complete the challenge.

In its most recent season premiere, which aired April 19th, NAKED AND AFRAID earned its highest rated season premiere ever, even beating the series launch out of Skywire Live. NAKED AND AFRAID earned a 2.20 P25-54 AA%, up +32% versus last season’s premiere. Additionally, NAKED AND AFRAID pulled in 3.471 million total viewers P2+, up 29% versus last season’s premiere and was the most watched premiere without a Wallenda lead-in.

The season premiere of NAKED AND AFRAID was that Sunday night’s #1 non-sports program on ad-supported cable with M25-54/18-49/18-34 and pulled in strong ratings among Women and Persons 12-17. The premiere was the #3 ad-supported cable program on Sunday night with women, beating E!’s Royals and Bravo’s Blood, Sweat & Heels and in its younger demo and posted a double digit increase (+16%) from last season’s premiere in P12-17 rating.
