Review: Leverage, S4, E6 – “The Carnival Job”

Review: Leverage, S4, E6 - "The Carnival Job" 1

“The Carnival Job” has lots of twists and turns to keep everyone guessing and on their toes – both on the team and in the audience. Like last week, this episode begins with a legal issue, which may be the perfect hook for me! This week the writers do a better job getting the legal issues correct.

Recap/Review: The Glee Project, S1, E6 - "Tenacity" 2

The ending of this week’s episode actually had me shrieking “Oh. My. God!” Yes, I am that shocked by who is not called back this week. This show continues to grow on me, not because I like the tension of knowing someone is going to have their dream taken away from them, but because of the mirror held up to the television industry.

Review: Leverage, S4, E5 – “The Hot Potato Job”

Review: Leverage, S4, E5 - "The Hot Potato Job" 3

I like where the writers are taking Leverage this season. Watching the team pull a con is always exciting, but as I’ve pointed out in a previous review, following a formula too closely could lead to the show becoming predictable and boring. “The Hot Potato Job” is written by Jenn Kao and directed by John Harrison and both get high marks for delivering yet another great episode that balances the formula with new creative twists.

Recap/Review: The Glee Project, Season 1, Ep 5 "Pairability" 4

As the competition heats up and we really get a chance to see more of the kids, I’m increasingly glad I’m not the person making the cut every week! Zach Woodlee tells Ryan Murphy, “You are going to have to kill your darlings.”

Review: Leverage, Season 4, Ep 4 “The Van Gogh Job”

Review: Leverage, Season 4, Ep 4 "The Van Gogh Job" 5

“The Van Gogh Job” features spectacular performances from Aldis Hodge and Beth Riesgraf in a terrific story from Chris Downey and Academy Award winning guest star Danny Glover. The team is trying to recover a lost painting and one man is trying to recover a lost love.

Recap/Review: The Glee Project, S1, E4 – “Dance Ability”

Recap/Review: The Glee Project, S1, E4 - "Dance Ability" 6

“Dance Ability” as a theme posed a tough problem for a lot of the contenders. Harry Shum Jr.was the only guest they could have chosen for this challenge. The kids have to worry about more than just their feet to win this week and earn a call back.

Review: Leverage, S4, E3 – “The 15 Minutes Job”

Review: Leverage, S4, E3 - "The 15 Minutes Job" 7

This season of Leverage is really upping the stakes for the team. In “The 15 Minutes Job,” the team sets out to take down Rockwell (Michael Gladis) who is, in many ways, a mirror image of Nate (Timothy Hutton). The episode focuses our attention on Nate and his relationship to the team and his own inner demons. Rockwell’s statement “Only our heroes fall” could apply to Nate even as it becomes a basis for this week’s job.

News: Harry Shum, Jr. to Mentor on “The Glee Project” this Sunday

News: Harry Shum, Jr. to Mentor on "The Glee Project" this Sunday 8

The Glee Project couldn’t have picked a better guest mentor for the fourth episode “Dance Ability.” Airing Sunday, July 10 at 9:00 pm ET/PT, Harry Shum Jr. (Glee’s Mike Chang) will be the surprise guest to mentor the remaining contenders on their dance moves. This week The Glee Project viewers will also be able take part in a watch-and-win sweepstake during the episode, see below for more information.

Review: Leverage, S4, E2 – “The 10 Li’l Grifters Job”

Review: Leverage, S4, E2 - "The 10 Li'l Grifters Job" 9

This week’s Leverage pays homage to murder mysteries, detectives, and Timothy Hutton’s father, Jim Hutton, and it may be my favorite episode ever. Flashbacks and period costumes are added to the action and humor the show brings every week. The stakes are high as the team must change cons in the middle of the game to keep Nate from going to prison again.

Recap/Review: The Glee Project, S1, E3 - "Vulnerability" 10

I’m still not sure I look forward to The Glee Project every week, but I can say I am invested in the “characters.” This week’s episode moved me deeply, twice, something I think is particularly appropriate in an episode entitled “Vulnerability.”

Review: Leverage, S4, E1 – “The Long Way Down Job”

Review: Leverage, S4, E1 - "The Long Way Down Job" 11

“The Long Way Down Job” gives me everything I want from a season premiere. It picks up from last season without relying too heavily on it, and delivers a classic, well-executed con – by both the “team” and the writers. And it delivers some great character development.

Recap/Review: The Glee Project, S1, E2 - "Theatricality" 12

REVIEW: The Glee Project: “Theatricality” Rating: Airdate: June 19, 2011, 9/8c on Oxygen             The kids on The Glee Project really take this week’s assignment of “Theatricality” to heart as the episode is all about the drama. The contestants are still insisting it doesn’t feel like a competition, but divisions are definitely starting to form. …

Review: Glee, Season 2, Episode 22 – “New York”

Review: Glee, Season 2, Episode 22 - "New York" 15

Like a good cover of an old favorite, Glee’s final episode of season two hits a high note on every New York movie or musical cliché – from dancing through Times Square to breakfast at Tiffany’s. From the opening shots of Times Square, the episode is all about chasing dreams.

Review: Supernatural Season 6 Finale, Episodes 21 and 22 – “Let it Bleed/The Man Who Knew Too Much”

Review: Supernatural Season 6 Finale, Episodes 21 and 22 - "Let it Bleed/The Man Who Knew Too Much" 16

The two-hour season finale of Supernatural answered many of its season-long questions even as Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) points out that “You can’t trust anyone these days.” Opinion on how satisfactorily those questions were answered will vary, but there should be little argument over the outstanding acting in both “Let It Bleed” and “The Man Who Knew Too Much.”

Review: Glee, Season 2, Episode 22 – “Funeral”

Review: Glee, Season 2, Episode 22 - "Funeral" 17

“We’re a team and we’re best when we work as one.” Glee’s penultimate episode of season two, “Funeral,” had some powerful moments, especially for anyone who has ever lost someone close to them. As is often the case with Glee, it’s only when you look beyond the surface that you appreciate how well each element of the show ties in.

Review – Glee, Season 2, Episode 20 – “Prom Queen”

Review - Glee, Season 2, Episode 20 - "Prom Queen" 18

Prom is a milestone in everyone’s life, whether you’re an outsider like most of the kids in New Directions, or typical Prom King and Queen material like Finn (Cory Monteith) and Quinn (Diana Agron). With New Directions performing at Prom, “Prom Queen” could have been simply an awesome opportunity for singing and dancing, but like other memorable episodes of Glee, this episode was much more than just about the singing.

Review – Supernatural, Season 6, Episode 20 – “The Man Who Would Be King”

Review - Supernatural, Season 6, Episode 20 - "The Man Who Would Be King" 19

The demon you know and the angel you thought you knew. There’s apparently a very good reason God didn’t bestow freedom of choice upon his heavenly hosts: they don’t make very good choices. Luckily for “Supernatural” fans, writer and director Ben Edlund made some wonderful visual and narrative choices in this week’s Cas-centric episode, “The Man Who Would Be King.”
