Interview with Jennifer Westfeldt and Adam Scott of “Friends with Kids”

Interview with Jennifer Westfeldt and Adam Scott of "Friends with Kids" 1

I had the distinct pleasure of not only watching a screening of the new movie, Friends with Kids, set to be released Friday, March 9, 2012, but participating in a Q&A with the film’s writer/producer/director/star Jennifer Westfeldt and her co-star, Adam Scott, as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, as I’m sure everyone will but please feel free to check out my review here on YEC.

Best Friends Really Do Make the Best Couples. Movie Review: "Friends with Kids" 2

Friends with Kids is an enjoyable, funny movie and more likely than not, will be a box-office success. While the subject matter is nothing new, already being compared to When Harry Met Sally and others of its ilk, the dialogue is fresh, the ensemble cast shines, and writer/producer/director Jennifer Westfeldt does an excellent job wearing each hat, especially since she also stars in the movie.

An Arrest, Some Sex and a Stolen Kiss. Review: #Smash – “Let’s Be Bad” @NBCSmash

An Arrest, Some Sex and a Stolen Kiss. Review: #Smash - "Let's Be Bad" @NBCSmash 3

You may notice this review is slightly less enthusiastic than my previous ones. That’s because the writing is becoming a little too predictable and the show is beginning to move a little too slowly for my taste. I want to yell at Derek and say, “Get a move on, already! Just tell Ivy she’s out and Karen’s in!” What do you all think?

Go Into the Light, Peg. Review: Shameless – “Parenthood” @SHO_Kareem @SHO_Shameless

Go Into the Light, Peg. Review: Shameless - "Parenthood" @SHO_Kareem @SHO_Shameless 4

Sometimes, Shameless pulls some real surprises, and “Parenthood” does a good job of it. Not only does Sheila (Joan Cusack) have a hand in Peg’s (Louise Fletcher) death, but Lip (Jeremy Allen White) leaves home when Fiona (Emily Rossum) tells him it’s “school or leave.” She and Lip had made a pact to finish high school, but he gets expelled because of his antics. Mickey Milkovich (Noel Fisher) wants to kill Frank (William H. Macy) after Frank catches Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey doing the nasty in the Kash and Grab; and Steve/Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) will try anything to get Fiona back.

Interview: Grimm’s David Giuntoli and Sasha Roiz Talk ‘Grimmstinks’ and ‘Renardisms’ @NBCGrimm 5

When I found out a conference call with Grimm’s David Giuntoli and Sasha Roiz was scheduled, I immediately put myself on the list of participants. Grimm has become one of my favorite shows this season. Giuntoli and Roiz have a wonderful camaraderie, which comes through loud and clear in this interview. In my opinion, each is a terrific actor and both have a wonderful sense of humor. So, in order for you to understand what ‘Grimmstinks’ and ‘Renardisms’ are, and to find out what’s in store for everyone in the second half of the season, read on.

Interview with Jason Isaacs: What to Expect from NBC's "Awake" 7

Yesterday, February 27, 2012, Jason Isaacs, the star of NBC’S new intriguing drama, Awake, was kind enough to answer questions about the show and his role as Detective Michael Britten. Awake follows Britten’s life after he finds himself living in two different realities following a car crash: one where his teen son, Rex (Dylan Minnette, Saving Grace), dies in the crash and his wife, Hannah (Laura Allen, Terriers) survives; and the other where Hannah dies, leaving Michael and Rex to pick up the pieces.

We’re all used to seeing Walton Goggins (Justified, The Shield) most recently in his bad boy role as Boyd Crowder on Justified. Now, the Emmy®-Award nominated actor adds voiceovers to his extensive list of television credits as he lends his voice to the animated character ‘Bruce Lindsay,’ a psychic, in this week’s episode of Unsupervised.

News: Dancing with the Stars Returns Monday, March 19 with a Dynamic Lineup of Stars

Dancing with the stars generic logo

I love me some good ballroom and Latin dancing and was excited to hear the announcement of the cast for Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars. As usual, there are stars I recognize and a few I don’t. Sorry, I’m not so much into sports and opera. Anyway, the live two-hour event begins Monday, March 19, 2012 at 8/7c on ABC and the first Dancing with the Stars: Result Show will air Tuesday, March 27. Without further ado, here is the list of stars, along with their professional partners.

A Degas Painting, A Blind Date, and a Birthday Party. Review: Smash - "The Cost of Art" 9

Rehearsals for “Marilyn: The Musical” get underway; Eileen (Angelica Huston) finds a way to finance the show; and Karen (Katherine McPhee) receives help from an unusual source. The title, “The Cost of Art,” seems to have quite a few meanings relative to the episode—the literal cost of the painting Eileen has to sell, the emotional toll selling the painting to finance the musical takes, and the lengths to which the actors, director and producer will go to make a musical great.

A Former Love, A Despised Love and Family Love. Review: Smash, S1, E3 - "Enter Mr. DiMaggio" 11

“Do you think he gave me the part because I slept with him?” ~ Ivy (Megan Hilty) to Jessica (Savannah Wise). Not only is this question on Ivy’s mind, it’s on everyone else’s too. As well it should be since it seems Derek (Jack Davenport) will stop at nothing to get his way. It amazes me that Ivy believes the hogwash Derek feeds her. She may be experienced when it comes to Broadway productions, but she’s a bit naïve when it comes to matters of the heart. Perhaps it’s those rose-colored glasses she’s wearing.

Love, Divorce, and a Failed Meth Lab. Review: Shameless, S2, E7 - "A Bottle of Jean Nate" @SHO_Kareem 12

Jasmine (Amy Smart) fails to tell Fiona (Emily Rossum) that Steve (Justin Chatwin) and his wife Estefania (Stephanie Fantauzzi) will be among the guests at her end-of-summer bash aboard her lover’s yacht. Frank (William H. Macy) is having a really hard time dealing with his mother, and Kev (Steve Howey) can’t handle Ethel’s (Madison Davenport) disappearance. Karen (Laura Wiggins) regrets her decision to marry Jody (Zach McGowan), and Lip (Jeremy Allen White) and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) finally work things out. Another terrific episode of Shameless!

And the Role Goes to... Review: Smash - "The Callback" 15

I knew the choice of who would play Marilyn would be made sooner rather than later, but I didn’t expect it to happen so soon in the season. It all comes down to this: go with the experienced chorus line girl or the fresh-faced ingénue who captures Marilyn Monroe’s essence? Before I reveal who gets the role of her lifetime, let’s take a look at the episode.

Grammy's Back! Review: Shameless - "Can I Have a Mother" @SHO_Kareem @SHO_Shameless 16

“Can I Have a Mother” is brilliantly written and acted. For those who have been saying Macy was miscast in the role of Frank, I say “Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.”

Video Interview with John Wells, Executive Producer of Shameless 17

It’s always interesting to hear what the producer was thinking about for a particular episode. Especially if that happens after the episode has aired. Such is the case with Executive Producer John Wells as he discusses his thoughts about last week’s episode of Shameless, “Father’s Day.” And for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, check out my review.

"Stars Aren't Born, They're Made." Review: Smash - "Pilot" 18

“Smash” is a smash! There, I said it. You heard it here first. Well, not really. “Smash” has already received fabulous advance reviews from critics and bloggers alike. And deservedly so. It has everything a smash TV series should have—romance; drama; human pathos; comedy; entertainment; sharp and witty dialogue; expert directing, choreography and acting; and the bonus of awesome singing and dancing. This is not your daughter’s Glee.

Interview: A Revealing and Refreshing Conversation with Jasika Nicole of "Fringe" 20

Last week, we were privy to the Q&A session with Jasika Nicole, “Astrid Farnsworth” on the hugely popular cult favorite, Fringe. Astrid is a kind and compassionate person, who is also a very valuable member of the FBI Fringe team. It was fun to listen to Nicole as she described what it’s like to play Astrid, especially with the very Astrid-centric episode, “Making Angels,” that aired Friday, February 3, 2012 at 9/8c on Fox.

A Pregnancy, A Dead Husband and Sexy Leopard Lingerie. Review: Shameless - "Father's Day" 21

“Father’s Day” is another beautifully written, acted and directed episode of Shameless. It’s a perfect balance between light and dark comedy, providing a significant amount of pathos along the way. Just my cup of tea for a Sunday night.

An Enraged Wife, A Faux Birthday Sleepover and a Stroke of Luck. Review: Shameless – “A Beautiful Mess”

An Enraged Wife, A Faux Birthday Sleepover and a Stroke of Luck. Review: Shameless - "A Beautiful Mess" 24

Let’s count the number of ways the Gallaghers have gotten themselves into a mess this week. I’d say Fiona (Emily Rossum) sleeping with Craig (Taylor Kinney) last week qualifies now that his wife, Lucy Jo (Brit Morgan), knows about it. I also think Frank (William H. Macy) has a mess on his hands as Sheila (Joan Cusack) gets closer to discovering the truth about him and his so-called job at The Alibi Room. Then, there’s Lip (Jeremy Allen White) trying to split up Karen (Laura Wiggins) and her fiancé, Jody (Zach McGowan).
