Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.

Tons of dark humor and symbolisms abound but the main one is associating pain with being in reality. Can Dean convince Sam he’s no longer in the cage? Grab a fluffy pillow and keep a happy feel-good movie at the ready because even for a person like me who has a deep penchant for the supernatural and paranormal, “Hello, Cruel World” is filled with darkness. (Squeezes my fluffy pillow).

Revenge is a dish best served cold…as death Review: @Syfy #Haven "Sins of the Father" 3

“Sins of the Father” is a great season finale. There are vengeful ghosts causing mayhem and murder via the hands of the living; Rev. Driscoll (Stephen McHattie) returns as a ghost – to finish what he started; the mystery about Audrey’s (Emily Rose) identity and how Dave (John Dunsworth) and Vince (Richard Donat) are involved in the cover up; Duke (Eric Balfour) realizing exactly what being a “troubled” slayer really entails; and of course – romance.

The season six premiere gives you drama, comedy, darkness, suspense, mystery, a little bit of ‘eww gross!’ sprinkled with ‘what the…,’ and a blow job. What more could you ask for, right? “I have no idea what Hammer time is…or how it differs from regular time.” ~ Dexter

What the hell is going on with SAMCRO this season? Gemma’s getting chummy with Sheriff Roosevelt’s wife Rita; a SAMCRO charter in Arizona is cooking up and dealing meth; both Bobby and Piney are becoming increasingly disgruntled with the way Clay is running the club; and AUSA Linc Potter is stirring up a hornet’s nest by re-opening an old murder case.

A hauntingly beautiful and tragic tale. The artistic cinematography is breathtaking. The visuals are absolutely stunning…it’s an astounding celestial dream! The very onset of the film depicts everything in slow motion as the planet Melancholia draws closer on its collision course with Earth. As the story told in two parts continues in a gradual progression, the contrast of the two sisters and their reactions to impending death comes to a bitterly beautiful explosive end.

Love, love, absolutely love Haven! It has drama, mystery, suspense, sarcasm, dark comedy, a little blood and gore, all sprinkled heavily with some supernatural elements. “Based on renowned author Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid, the series follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker (Rose), who becomes a cop in the small town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which also holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of her lost past.”

Review: CW's New Series 'Hart of Dixie' - Pilot (NYC Chic vs Southern Belle) 9

Being a southern gal, I’m always curious to see how much ‘knee slapping, hew-hawing’ stereotyping writers will try to incorporate into a series based in the southern states in order to give it some presumed authenticity. Well, Hart of Dixie does have a heaping helping of what many non-southerners think is typical about the South peppered throughout the premiere, but in all honesty, it isn’t too far off base. Despite some of the cheesy elements sprinkled into the pilot, the series is entertaining, charming, funny, and full of the best southern hospitality this side of the Mason Dixon line!

Review: The Big C, Season 2 Finale (Does snorting blow on snow give you brain freeze?) 10

The season two finale puts you on a bit of a tilt-a-whirl of emotions. You spin around in a tizzy with all the disgustingly funny lines Sean (John Hickey) spits out, only to get jerked into another position dealing with Paul’s (Oliver Platt) neuroses about Cathy’s (Laura Linney) medical bills and his little cocaine habit. Does snorting blow on snow cause brain freeze?

“Tucker and Dale are two best friends on vacation at their dilapidated mountain house, who are mistaken for murderous backwoods hillbillies by a group of obnoxious, preppy college kids. When one of the students gets separated from her friends, the boys try to lend a hand, but as the misunderstanding grows, so does the body count.”

Review: #Haven , Season 2, Ep. 211 “Business As Usual” (Forget the mummified “troubles” – What’s in the box, Duke?)

Are the Crockers some kind of “trouble” slayers? The larger box Duke finds hidden on his boat contains a variety of items used to possibly stop certain types of “trouble” almost like a supernatural kit for warding off and defending oneself against a “troubled” person. But what strikes me as extremely odd is a passage in Simon’s journal telling Duke he has to “kill her.” When the page is turned, there is a photo of Audrey circa 27 years ago.

Before I jump into the main characters, I must comment on the “tiny” guest stars this episode is aptly named for. If you’re squeamish or hate bugs, I recommend you skip the next paragraph of my review. If you haven’t seen the episode, you may want to have a vomit bag handy when watching. Meanwhile, Kozik gets his ass handed to him while Clay is spreading is “word” thinner and thinner.

From being aroused by cannoli last week to needing a box of tissue this week, The Big C sure knows how to spin your emotions in every direction. If you haven’t seen the episode, get some tissues, it’s a tear jerker…and a face slapper, although I think that is an involuntary reflex. This is the stuff dark comedies are made of. I wish premium networks weren’t so afraid to step into the gray areas of what is truly a dark comedy which is finding humor in the depths of despair.

There’s a serial killer on the loose and a teenage boy, Rory (Scott Beaudin), has gone missing. Is Rory the next victim or is he part of something more menacing? Are there cannibals in Haven? “Wendigo…it’s a human spirit, but stronger, faster; tracks prey like a lion; survives on human flesh.”

Cannoli never sounded so…erotic. Meow! Temperatures may be dropping in Minneapolis but libidos are heating up! From the homeless guy using the expensive gloves Cathy donates to warm up more than his hands to Dr. Atticus Sherman (guest star Alan Alda) hungrily munching on his wife Gia’s (guest star Laura Benanti) cannoli, “Fight or Flight” definitely channels some strong sexual overtones…I wonder if the writer was going through a dry spell? Could Haven be plagued with an outbreak or is this just another case of the “troubles?” My money is on the latter and with the heavy stench of betrayal in the air, the “troubled” are going to be in big…trouble. “Your kind won’t win.” An ominous threat spewing from Merrill’s blood-drenched lips; it’s moments like these that make Haven such a darkly decadent treat.

Damn you, Wilfred. I love you but I want to kick you in nuts right now. But, you know I’ll bring you an ice pack and a blunt to make up for it later. “Identity” has a purpose – but what we get is more questions and lingering doubts about Ryan’s sanity and Wilfred’s ambiguous existence. And why is Wilfred typing out his will?

I’m not easily spooked but I’ll be damned if I didn’t leave the light on and stay seated in bed rather than remain in my usual lounging position for watching TV. Was I freaked out? Um, yeah! I usually leave the TV on with any paranormal show and fall asleep without any issues but after watching “Emily the Imaginary Friend” and “Lost Girl,” it’s safe to say I was more than a bit hesitant to turn off the lights. I actually contemplated putting in an animated movie to settle my nerves.

Advance Review: Sons of Anarchy, Season 4 Premiere, Ep. 401 "Out" (Sex, Lies, and Retaliation) 24

After waiting nine months for the highly anticipated fourth season of this testosterone fueled series, I’ll be honest – I feel a little jipped. There are some great moments in “Out,” but overall the slow-paced episode feels very subdued and full of details to the point of overkill. What I love about Sons of Anarchy is the allure of mystery and dark secrets – something to riddle out, but “Out” is a bit too informative; and actually, it’s kind of boring in places. But, I’m a true fan of SOA and will not jump ship.
