FX Networks premiere’s second season of their critically acclaimed animated series Archer.

The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills hosted a packed theatre of online media outlets for a delightful treat as FX premiered episodes from the all new season of Archer.

The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as “Sterling Archer;” Aisha Tyler as “Lana Kane;” Jessica Walter as

“Malory Archer;” Chris Parnell  as “Cyril Figgis;” Judy Greer as “Cheryl” or “Carol” as she’s sometimes called; Amber Nash as “Pam Poovey;” and George Coe as Archer’s butler, “Woodhouse.”

The energy in the room was really fun and casual. There were a few suits in the audience, but for the most part, it was anything from business casual to jeans and flannel.

(Note: I was invited when I was working with another website, however, I retained the rights to my article and all photos/video were taken with my personal equipment)

The cast were on hand at the premiere and were very sociable afterwards at the reception immediately following the screening.  There was a nice little bar area set up with beverages and an antipasto buffet table with gourmet bread, cheeses, meats, fruits, and spreads for us to munch on.

After the screening, everyone gathered in the foyer to mix and mingle with the cast. First, I saw Judy Greer (voice of Cheryl/Carol), looking lovely in a royal blue dress. I loved her in movies such as The Wedding Planner, 13 Going on 30, and 27 Dresses.

L-R: (as if you needed the guidance) Judy Greer and ME (Judy Manning)

Needless to say, I was super nervous to approach her but I sucked it up long enough to ask if could get a picture with her. She was so kind and gladly took a photo with me.

She’s wearing Stiletto heels making me look shorter than I am (I’m 5’7”).

Then I cruised over to the bar area to get a Diet Coke (I was driving) and H. Jon Benjamin was in the vicinity.  Sure it was premeditated on my part to go to the bar, but hey, I was there to meet the cast! He was very comical even as he took photos with other people. Right before I got my turn, a gentleman and his date in front of me were speaking with Jon. The guy was taller than Jon, so what does Jon do – he snuggles his head into the crux of the man’s armpit and rests his head on the man’s chest to take a photo. It was so funny and kind of cute, showing his unique sense of humor.

H. Jon Benjamin – Me

Finally, it’s my turn! I told Jon how much I enjoy the show and he graciously allowed me to take a photo with him.

Aisha Tyler was not available after the screening and I was bummed. I loved her on Ghost Whisperer and her stand-up comedy shows.

But another favorite of mine was in eyesight – Chris Parnell. I’ve enjoyed his work on SNL for many years and he’s absolutely hysterical as Cyril on Archer. I was nervous and my hands were a little unsteady.

Chris Parnell and ME *squee*

Of course, Chris was a gentleman and very touched that I was familiar with his work and a fan. I told him one of my favorite skits from SNL was when he played a gay carpenter asking if there is any “caulk” and how much he loves “black caulk.” If you missed that episode, search for it, it’s hysterical!!

He was kind enough to take a photo with me and he even took a photo with my daughter (she was my Plus 1). My daughter was so nervous, she was literally shaking and Chris really made her feel at ease. <At my daughter’s request, I will not publish the photo of her and Chris Parnell.>

All in all, it was a great screening and I am very excited to watch the premiere of season two tonight. I know I’ve already seen the first episode, but hey, it’s funny and I enjoy a good repeat performance!

Here’s a quick overview of the two episodes that were screened.

Episode 1 “Swiss Miss” –  (Airing  January 27, 10:pm e/p) –  In an effort to get more funding for ISIS, Malory offers protection for his young socialite daughter, who just so happens to have her eyes and hands set on Archer. Too bad she’s only 16! It’s so hilarious as Archer tries to tell everyone that this girl is chasing him not the other way around, but when these two are being hunted down by kidnappers, will they bond over crisis? Or will the young girl freeze her nipples off since she took off her jacket to seduce Archer right before the gun battle ensues?

<WARNING – SPOILER >

And for some reason they screened Episode 4 “Pipeline Fever.” I am not sure why they showed us episode 4 instead of 2…oh well. “Pipeline Fever” airs on February 17, 10:00 pm e/p) – Sterling and Lana go down to the Louisiana bayou to protect a natural gas pipeline from an eco-terrorist. Sterling is armed and ready, including his cooler of beers sitting in dry ice. Back at ISIS, going green may not be the best option, but Malory wants a tax break so she’s making some drastic and possibly disastrous changes.

Tune into Archer tonight, Thursday January 27, 2011 at 10pm E/P only on FX.

You’ll laugh so hard you might just pee in your pants, so get your Depends ready.

Here is some video I took while at the event – the video quality is not pristine, but I guess I made due with my little Sony Cybershot! Enjoy!

Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
