Ok, I’ll admit I haven’t been a regular viewer of Warehouse 13. However, knowing I was getting a chance to preview the season three premiere, I began watching season two ON DEMAND and I was hooked.  What I love about the show are the characters and the various eclectic objects they find. It’s funny, inventive, and charming. The premise of Warehouse 13 is simple: after rescuing the President of the United States, two Secret Service Agents, Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) and Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) are transferred to Warehouse 13 – a secret government facility in South Dakota where ancient relics and strange objects that have some kind of supernatural and/or paranormal attributes are stored. It takes a certain type of person to work in such an extraordinary facility. Pete has a little quirk – he gets vibes alerting him when something bad is coming while Myka is an extremely organized and knowledgeable bookworm.

Joanne Kelly as Myka Bering

If you missed season two’s finale, our lovable nerd Myka felt leaving Warehouse 13 would be in the best interest of everyone after misjudging former Warehouse agent HG Wells’ (Jaime Murray) character that resulted in a near catastrophic global disaster. Will Myka close the book on Warehouse 13 for good? Will HG Wells figure out another ingenious way to break free?

With Myka gone, the omnipresent and formidable Mrs. Frederic (CCH Pounder) must find a suitable new partner for Pete. Enter Steve Jinks (guest star Aaron Ashmore). Steve’s got a knack for knowing when people are lying. As a matter of fact, his ability is downright supernatural.  Of course, that hasn’t been proven…yet. Perhaps his ability is the reason he’s immune to Pete’s off-the-wall sense of humor. And poor Pete; he’s just not himself now that Myka is gone. He doesn’t even make a move on the young lady he rescues– the very scantily clad and visibly cold young lady. He obviously misses his old partner but with a new case developing in Denver, CO, could there be a chance of seeing Myka? When I watched the season two episodes, I didn’t get an immediate sense of sexual tension between Pete and Myka and I don’t think I want to see them like that. I love that their relationship is more like siblings rather than lovers. But, who knows what will happen in season three. (wink wink)

As Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) gives Steve the welcome tour of “America’s attic…world’s junk drawer…library of crazy…artifacts road show,” Artie (Saul Rubinek) must deal with a storm brewing inside Warehouse 13…literally. It seems a statue of the Greek God Zeus isn’t pleased with his neighbor and causes thunder clouds to appear within the cavernous building. You would think this type of occurrence would shock or surprise the new guy, but after dealing with Jimmy Hendrix’s electrifying guitar, storm clouds are a piece of cake.

L-R: Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) and Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) continue to search for clues in the case of Shakespeare's Folios

As Pete and Steve tackle their first case – Shakespeare’s folios are manifesting and killing people – they meet a vexing FBI Agent, Sally Stukowski (Ashley Williams). There is something disturbingly amiss with Sally, aside from her obvious abrasiveness. You might mistake the back and forth between Sally and Pete as playful flirtation, but it’s not (thank goodness!).

I will say, despite Pete’s sometimes silly humor, he makes me laugh out loud during one particular scene when trying to intervene at a banker’s convention and he’s accosted by Sally and her FBI goons. With his crisp white shirt torn open, he gestures moving his hands up and down, “No charge, ladies.”

Please tune in tonight for the season three premiere of Warehouse 13 at 9PM E/P only on Syfy.

Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
