Movie Review: Virginia (Jennifer Connelly,Ed Harris) “I’m gonna make us peas and carrots tonight…from scratch.”

VIRGINIA movie poster (thumb)

Living in a small town has its perks but it can also be a nightmare for a well-known sheriff trying to run for state senate. How Tipton (Ed Harris) and Virginia (Jennifer Connelly) have been able kept their affair secret for so long is beyond me but when Virginia finds out something is growing inside her, the truth becomes more twisted than you can imagine. Throw in a couple of botched robbery attempts, a kidnapping, young love, and a whole lot of heart and you have yourself a very entertaining film.

A Predictable Conclusion. Review: Smash Season Finale – “Bombshell”

Smash logo

To say I’m disappointed with the season finale of Smash would be putting it mildly, especially after “Previews” showed us what great acting and dialogue this show is capable of producing. “Bombshell” does no such thing. It is filled with predictability and yawn-inducing moments.

Comrades Up in Arms. Review: Lost Girl – “BrotherFae of the Wolves”

Lost Girl logo

The Mongolian Death Worm is an elderly Light Fae named Velma (Jayne Eastwood), whose unnatural attachment to her TV can become deadly. Take away her TV and you have complete control of her. This seems to be an indictment of TV viewers; our society has become overly attached to electronic devices, practically rendering us technology-addicted zombies. Would we act as Velma does if these things were taken away from us?

Seinfeld This Is Not… Review: Veep “Chung”

Veep poster

This is only the fourth episode of Veep and we’re already at the “meh” stage. I just don’t get it. The acting seems forced, the lines are delivered mechanically, the jokes aren’t funny and I found my thoughts wandering.

Review: The Borgias “Day of Ashes”

TheBorgias_gal2_4-Borgias-Liquor-of-Succession-thumb

“Day of Ashes” sets up what is to come – a day of reckoning, but for whom? The Pope (Jeremy Irons) keeps his word to atone for his sins in light of the disaster caused by lightning, which resulted in numerous casualties and and a few fatalities. But, giving sacrament to the people hardly seems penance enough for the type of sins the Pope has committed.
