There aren’t enough words to convey the depth of my adoration for Penny Dreadful. From the moment I heard of the show, I was immediately drawn to it, like a moth to a flame. Series creator and writer John Logan is my spirit animal. His words woven together created an elaborate portrait of Victorian London filled with all the things that go bump in the night. But, along with all the “night creatures” also came light in the form of unassuming heroes and friends who became champions. I haven’t felt quite this way about a show before and I’m not sure I ever will again. Penny Dreadful will forever remain in my heart. The entire cast has given absolutely brilliant performances; from Vanessa’s vulnerability and insecurities to Ethan’s humility and courage, each character brought their own strengths and flaws making the series so well rounded and entertaining. Thank you, John Logan. Thank you for making such an amazing series that resonated with millions of fans around the world. Thank you for making me feel normal in my fascination with the darker side of life.

In case you haven’t heard, Penny Dreadful’s season three, two-hour season finale was actually their series finale. Below is a press release from Showtime, along with a video message from series creator/writer John Logan thanking the fans for their support.

LOS ANGELES, CA – June 20, 2016 – The critically acclaimed SHOWTIME drama PENNY DREADFUL has slayed its final demon – last night’s jaw-dropping finale marked the series finale of the three-season opus envisioned by creator, writer and executive producer John Logan, it was announced today by Logan and David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc. This unique mash-up of literary horror has followed Vanessa Ives (Eva Green, in her Golden Globe®-nominated role), Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), and Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) as they’ve worked together, at all costs, to vanquish the evil that relentlessly pursues them.

“I created PENNY DREADFUL to tell the story of a woman grappling with her faith, and with the demons inside her. For me the character of Vanessa Ives is the heart of this series,” said Logan. “From the beginning, I imagined her story would unfold over a three-season arc, ending with Vanessa finally – and triumphantly – finding peace as she returns to her faith. To have had fans that have embraced us so passionately has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. This has been a very personal project for me and I will be forever grateful to have worked with the incredible cast led by Eva, Josh and Tim, our amazing Irish crew, and with our wonderful partners at SHOWTIME and Sky.”

The final moments of part two of the series finale, "The Blessed Dark," is beautifully done. Ethan and Vanessa are reunited, even if only for a moment.

It has been an honor to work with him and this amazingly talented cast, and we’re thrilled that we can continue to work with John as he transitions to write and produce his next project for us, JUST KIDS, alongside Patti Smith. Together with our partners at Sky, we celebrate John’s vision and the thrilling finale of PENNY DREADFUL.”

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
