SALEM - WGN America TCA Event Interview RoomYEC attended the WGN America’s TCA panel for their upcoming new drama Salem. This is WGN America’s first original, scripted series.

Synopsis:
Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, SALEM explores what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials and dares to uncover the dark, supernatural truth hiding behind the veil of this infamous period in American history.

In SALEM, witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem.

The trailer is just the tip of this diabolical dagger. The lengthier promo at the TCA panel makes me more than a bit excited about this new series. The show is set to air April 20, 2014 on WGN America. You may need to check with local cable provider to find out if you get WGN America.

The set was built from scratch and they are filming in Shreveport, LA. During the panel, executive producers Brannon Braga and Adam Simon said that having the set being built from scratch really helped lend authenticity for the show.
From my interviews with some of the cast and hearing them on the panel, Salem sounds like a gripping and enthralling drama. If you are familiar with the film The Crucible, you may recognize the character Tituba. Actress Ashley Madekwe expressed her delight in playing this character during our interview.

Here are the interviews with three of the cast members: Seth Gabel who plays Cotton Mather, Ashley Madekwe who plays Tituba, and Shane West who plays John Alden.

Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
