TV News: FX Gets the Most TCA Nominations of any Television Network

FX  theres no box - logoCongratulations to FX for scoring the most Television Critics Assoication (TCA) Awards nominations of any TV network! Included in those nominations are the four garnered by its first-year drama series, The Americans—Matthew Rhys for Individual Achievement in Drama, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, New Program, and Program of the Year.

LOS ANGELES, June 10, 2013 – For the first time ever, FX received the most Television Critics Association Awards nominations of any network, with a total of seven nominations.  Its first-year drama series The Americans led the way for FX and it was the most nominated show on TV with four nominations including star Matthew Rhys for Individual Achievement in Drama, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, New Program, and Program of the Year.

“We are very grateful to the TCA for their recognition of our shows and the talented people behind them,” said John Landgraf, Chief Executive Officer, FX Networks and FX Productions.  “It’s especially rewarding that The Americans received the most nominations of any show on TV  and cemented its place as the most critically-acclaimed new series  this year.  Our congratulations and thanks go out to Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields and everyone involved in the show.  As for Louie, what can you say?  It’s just the best comedy on television and the critics have been incredibly supportive from the beginning.  Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Tim Minear and everyone associated with AHS  delivered some of the most riveting television this year, and this  latest incarnation of American Horror Story was a masterpiece.”

AHS2_Asylum_3lines_OutdoorFor the third consecutive year, FX’s comedy series Louie was nominated in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, and its star Louis C.K. earned his third consecutive TCA nod for Individual Achievement in Comedy.  Both Louie and Louis C.K. won those awards respectively in 2012.

The FX miniseries American Horror Story: Asylum earned a nomination in the category of Outstanding Movie, Miniseries or Special.

The nominations by network are FX 7, HBO 6, CBS 6, NBC 6, AMC 5, FOX 3, ABC 3, PBS 3, ABC Family 2, BBC America 2, Netflix 2, Sundance 2, A&E 1, Comedy Central 1, CNN 1, MSNBC 1, and Oxygen 1.

This year’s seven TCA Awards nominations ties for FX’s highest total ever (2011).

Since 2002, FX has been nominated for a total of 38 TCA Awards. Past winners include Michael Chiklis for The Shield (Outstanding Individual Achievement in Drama), Louie (Outstanding Achievement in Comedy), and Louis C.K. for Louie (Outstanding Individual Achievement in Comedy). In the Outstanding Achievement in Drama category, FX has accrued 10 total nominations since 2002, including for series The Shield, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Damages and Rescue Me. For Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, FX has totaled three nominations and one win for the hit series Louie. This year The Americans join The Shield and Justified with their Outstanding New Program nominations.
