American Horror Story: Freak Show – “Edward Mordrake, Pt. 2″ Retrospective. Sins of the Past.

In true American Horror Story (AHS) fashion, this week’s Halloween episode, “Edward Mordrake (Part 2),” is full of scary and disturbing tales enough to leave you with nightmares. As the conclusion of the two-part story of infamous carny legend Edward Mordrake (Wes Bentley), “Edward Mordrake (Part 2)” pulls out all the stops, taking viewers further down a murky path with a sinister phantom as their guide.

After an incident at his apartment during an epic Halloween party, Pops (George Segal) is forced to move in with the rest of the family. While having all her men under one roof may be a dream come true for Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey), Murray (Jeff Garlin) is less than thrilled.

The Blacklist – “The Mombasa Cartel” Review. Suit of Skin.

The next group on Reddington’s (James Spader) list for Agent Keen (Megan Boone) and the FBI to look into is the Mombasa Cartel, a ruthless organization that makes billions poaching animals. The focus shifts when skinless bodies of cartel members start washing up on shore. When all signs point to a disbanded Alaskan animal rights group known as the Animal Underground Network, Agent Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) is sent to investigate.

Showtime’s Programming Overview for 2014-15 TV Season

I love the winter season of TV shows on Showtime. There’s Shameless, House of Lies, Episodes, and Web Therapy, to name a few of the returning series for 2015. Below are the premiere dates for these highly popular series, as well as Showtime’s upcoming comedy and documentary specials for late fall 2014.

The Walking Dead – “Four Walls and a Roof” Review. The Katana Has Returned.

Guess there’s nothing left to say but damn. I’m still in awe of what happens in “Four Walls and a Roof.” It has probably pushed the season five premiere out of the top spot for me.

The Affair – “103” Review. A Man in Charge.

This week’s installment of The Affair doesn’t further Noah (Dominic West) and Alison’s (Ruth Wilson) affair much although it does examine their relationship at this point of Detective Jeffries’ (Victor Williams) questioning. Instead, it delves into the history of a long-standing feud between the Solloway and Hodge families. Oscar Hodge (Darren Goldstein), Alison’s boss at The Lobster Roll, doesn’t particularly care for Alison’s husband Cole (Joshua Jackson), and “103” provides some insight into why.

Homeland – “About a Boy” Review. There’s More Than One Way to Skin a Cat.

“About a Boy” really is about a boy; almost the entire hour is spent with Carrie (Claire Dane) doing her best to get Aayan (Suraj Sharma) to admit his uncle, Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar), the terrorist leader who was killed by a CIA air strike in Homeland’s season premiere, is actually alive and well. It was a real shocker to see him hugging Aayan last week in “Iron in the Fire.”

Grimm – “Thanks for the Memories” Review. A Tentacle for Your Thoughts.

It’s been a little over five months since we last laid eyes on Portland á la Grimm. As season premieres go, “Thanks for the Memories” doesn’t disappoint; in fact, it has me excited for what this new season of Grimm has in store. I enjoy how the beginning of “Thanks for the Memories” addresses what transpired in the season three finale and continues along the path any good police procedural would — the investigation into the captain’s shooter and his subsequent beheading.

Haven — “Nowhere Man” Recap. Dead Men Do Tell Tales.

“Nowhere Man” takes us on a strange yet interesting journey full of unexpected twists and turns. We learn more about the Audrey/Mara (Emily Rose) split from “The Old Switcheroo, Part 1” and how it affects Audrey’s ability to help the “troubled.” There is also some “pancake” time with Nathan (Lucas Bryant) and Audrey, but it takes a back seat to the intricacy of the mysterious new trouble sweeping through town.

American Horror Story: Freak Show – “Edward Mordrake (Part 1)” Retrospective. The Ghost of You.

‘Tis the season of Halloween, and FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show (AHS: Freak Show) takes every advantage of the ghostly holiday in its “Edward Mordrake (Part 1)” episode—an episode surprisingly not as gory as it is more chilling in its depiction of violence.

The Goldbergs – “Shall We Play a Game?” Retrospective. JTP in the House.

When Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) discovers she isn’t viewed as “the cool mom” by Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and her friends, she decides to change her image. Before you know it, she is dressing up like Madonna trying to show she can be fun too.

The Originals –“Every Mother’s Son” Top Moments. Mother Knows Best.

I enjoyed “Every Mother’s Son.” I do have some concerns that Esther’s endgame will overshadow the other relationships on the show. I’m along for the ride and loving every minute though.

Castle – “Child’s Play” Recap. Jerkface.

As Castle episodes go, “Child’s Play” may not move the key story lines forward much, but it sure is a fun one to watch! Castle (Nathan Fillion) going undercover in an elementary school? It’s like putting a duck in water. In “Child’s Play,” an ice cream vendor is murdered and during the preliminary investigation, Ryan (Seamus Dever) discovers a field trip permission slip belonging to a second grader at Kennedy Elementary who may have witnessed the crime.

The Blacklist – “The Front” Review. The Key.

When a woman is involved in a hit and run accident, Reddington (James Spader) reveals her identity to Agent Keen (Megan Boone). She is Carrie Ann Beck (Katrina Lenk), an eco-terrorist, who, along with her husband Maddox (Michael Laurence), was believed to be dead — until now. The most troubling aspect about all this is how disturbed Reddington is about the Becks.

Sleepy Hollow – “The Weeping Lady” Review. Trust Issues and Flirting.

Sleepy Hollow mixes a little business with pleasure in “The Weeping Lady.” While the threat of Moloch (Derek Mears) is ever present, revenge, secrets, and a bit of flirting make their way to the forefront. Oh, and there is a deranged, obsessed spirit trying to kill the women in Ichabod’s (Tom Mison) life because if she can’t have him, no one can.

Photos and What’s Next on Jane the Virgin

Last week, I discovered The CW’s new comedy series, Jane the Virgin. I couldn’t believe how much I laughed throughout the show. The series is based on the telenovela Juana la Virgen, and revolves around 23-year-old Jane (Gina Rodriguez) who becomes pregnant after mistakenly being artificially inseminated by her distracted gynecologist. Unfortunately, Jane has a boyfriend, Michael (Brett Dier), …

The Walking Dead – “Strangers” Review. Getting to Know You.

Too much happens in “Strangers” for me to come up with an adequate analysis of it all. I’ll say this much, the writers are keeping me intrigued. I don’t want to miss a single minute of any episode.

Guess Who’s Coming Back to The Real Housewives of New York!

If you don’t know by now, I’m crazy for my Real Housewives … from Atlanta to Beverly Hills, and from New Jersey to New York. And, as disappointed as I was that Bethenny Frankel’s talk show Bethenny didn’t succeed, that’s as happy as I am about the news that she’s rejoining The Real Housewives of New York for season seven of the hit reality series.

The Affair – “102” Review. Jam, Fish, and Horsies, Oh My!

“102” does an excellent job of furthering The Affair’s main story line, giving us important character development and backstories. The cinematography, in particular, is breathtaking, especially in the opening sequence. The Affair’s writers have stepped up their game, making Noah and Alison more relatable and easy to form a connection with. I was completely engrossed in the entire episode and at the end of the hour, I was left wanting more…much, much more.
